Newsies, a toe-tapping musical is based on a true story of an 1899 strike by newspaper boys. Inspired by the strike put on by the trolley workers, The Newspaper Boys, The Newsies, a group of orphaned children, band together to protest a pay cut by Pulitzer. Jack “Cowboy” Kelly organizes a newsboys’ strike. With David Jacobs as the brains of the new union, and Jack as the voice, the abandoned children join forces to go up against the rich and powerful.
